Moroccan desert circuit

Day 1: Marrakech – Agdz.

Departure from your hotel at 7:30 am, crossing the High Atlas by the beginning of its central part and by the highest road pass in Morocco, the Tizi n’ Tichka pass”2260m altitude”, contrasting landscapes, descent towards the Telouète valley to visit its kasbah and continue on a small road along the beautiful valley of Ounilla up to Kasbah the rare pearl of Morocco “ancient and exceptional ksar, the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a World Heritage site of humanity by UNESCO” that will be visited. After lunch we will continue our way to cross the Anti Atlas by the beginning of its Sahrawi part and by the col de Tinifte “1660m of altitude” very beautiful mountains and beautiful desert landscapes. After this crossing we will descend to the village Agdz and the Kasbah of Tamnougalt at the beginning of the Draa valley “vast palm grove that stretches to the limits of the desert” for a first night in a restored Kasbah watch. After settling down we will go out to visit the kasbah and go for a walk in the palm grove to discover the way of life of the Draa inhabitants.

 

Day 2: Agdz – Merzouga.

Departure from the kasbah at 8:30 am, we will walk along the valley and palm grove of Draa to the village Talsinkhte where we will take a small road that passes through desert plateaus on the Anti Atlas along the Saghro massif and through small villages and oases to the town of Rissani “once Sijilmassa, Ancient large caravan port and shopping mall in northern Africa “cradle of the Alaouite Cherifian dynasty where we will stop to visit one of these ancient Ksars and the mausoleum of the dynasty’s ancestor. Then we will continue our way to Merzouga and its great Erg,”Erg Chebbi” known for its largest and tallest sand dunes in Morocco and it is one of the most famous deserts in northern Africa. After having settled in the hotel Ksar Merzouga which overlooks directly on the dunes you will have the choice between: go out for anice camel ride in the dunes to see the sunset and sleep at the hotel, or go on a camel ride deep into the dunes and sleep under Berber tents in the middle of an ocean of dunes.

(The day will also be punctuated by the meeting of one or more nomadic families and a stop in a fossil field.

 

Day 3: Merzouga – Gorges du Todgha – Dades Valley

Departure at 9:00 am to the town of Rissani to visit its typical souks “return to the Middle Ages…! ». After that nice stopover, we will take the road back to the gorges of Todgha by crossing in width the palm grove of Tafilalet “the largest palm grove of Morocco” and a whole series of other palm groves and Regs “. Desert stony desert “up to the town of Tinerhir where you can visit the gorges of Todgha do a nice walk in a superb palm grove, and continue the road to the Dades valley.

 

4th day: Dades Valley – Ouarzazate – Marrakech.

Departure at 8:30 am, destination the gorges and we will continue along the valley of Roses, the stony desert and the palm grove of Skoura and in Ouarzazate we will visit the Kasbah of Taourirte. After this small stop we will take the road back quietly towards Marrakech by the pass of Tichka.
